Pinup is a broad term, and can be used to describe many types of pictures from paintings to photographs, all of which share a similar style. Charles G. Martignette writes, in The Great America Pin-Up (Taschen, 1996), "a pin-up image is one that shows a full-length view of its subject and characteristically has an element of a theme or some kind of story." That's good enough for us, and while we sometimes stray from such a clear definition, we do adhere to the spirit of the time. Pop Art Pinup is our interpretation of the traditional magazine and calendar pinups of yesterday, but, although we draw inspiration from the past, our work is entirely contemporary.
Pop Art Pinup is mostly about fun. Our pictures are intended to make you smile, and if they remind you a bit of old magazine Illustrations, well, it's what we’re about. We use bright colors, unique outfits and pop culture to create our little stories.
